"One year ago, our democracy was shaken to its core by an unprecedented assault on our Capitol," Harris said. "Today, we remember the lives that were lost, the injuries that were sustained, and the threat that was posed to our very way of life."

"But we also remember the resilience of our nation and the unwavering determination of those who stood up to defend our democracy," she continued. "We will not let our future be decided by those bent on silencing our voices or overturning our elections."
