Alabama State Head Coach Eddie Robinson Not Afraid To Speak His Mind

SEC football opener not ideal, says HBCU coach

Alabama State head coach Eddie Robinson not afraid to speak his mind

Alabama State head coach Eddie Robinson is not afraid to speak his mind. And when it comes to the SEC football opener, he has some thoughts. "It's not ideal," Robinson said. "I think it puts HBCU teams at a disadvantage."

Robinson's comments come after the SEC announced that it will open its football season with a full slate of conference games. This means that HBCU teams, which are typically non-conference opponents for SEC teams, will not have the opportunity to play in front of a national audience on opening weekend.

Robinson believes that this is a missed opportunity for HBCU teams to showcase their talent and gain exposure. "I think it's important for HBCU teams to have the opportunity to play in front of a national audience," Robinson said. "It's a chance for us to show the world what we can do."

HBCU teams have a lot to offer

Robinson is not the only HBCU coach who has expressed concerns about the SEC's decision. Mississippi Valley State head coach Vincent Dancy also believes that it is a missed opportunity for HBCU teams.

"I think it's a shame that the SEC is not going to play any HBCU teams this year," Dancy said. "I think we have a lot to offer."

Dancy believes that HBCU teams can provide SEC teams with a competitive challenge. "I think we can compete with anybody," Dancy said. "We have some really good players on our teams."

In addition to providing a competitive challenge, HBCU teams can also help SEC teams prepare for the season. "We can help them get ready for the season," Dancy said. "We can give them a good look at what they're going to see during the season."

SEC coaches have their reasons

SEC coaches have their reasons for not wanting to play HBCU teams. Some coaches believe that HBCU teams are not competitive enough. Others believe that playing HBCU teams is not a good use of their time.

However, Robinson believes that these are just excuses. "I think it's just an excuse," Robinson said. "They don't want to play us because they're afraid we're going to beat them."

Dancy agrees with Robinson. "I think they're afraid to play us," Dancy said. "They know that we can compete with them."
