Southwest Airlines Flight Diverted Due to Engine Failure

Details of the Incident

On Thursday, a Southwest Airlines Boeing 737-800 (registration N8327A) operating flight WN-3163 experienced an engine failure shortly after taking off from Chicago Midway International Airport (MDW). The flight was bound for Fort Myers, Florida (FMY) with 122 passengers and crew members on board.

Cause of the Diversion

According to Southwest Airlines, the aircraft experienced a problem with one of its engines. The crew made the decision to divert the flight to Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport (ATL) for safety precautions. The plane landed safely at ATL without further incident.

The flight was delayed for approximately two hours and thirty minutes as a result of the engine failure. Southwest Airlines has apologized to its passengers for the inconvenience and has arranged for alternate transportation to Fort Myers.
