Deadly Tornadoes Strike Texas

Severe Weather Leaves Trail of Destruction

A devastating tornado ripped through central Texas on Wednesday evening, leaving behind a trail of destruction and damage. The National Weather Service (NWS) confirmed that the tornado was an EF-4 on the Enhanced Fujita Scale, with winds reaching up to 170 miles per hour. The tornado touched down near the town of Elgin and traveled for several miles, destroying numerous homes and businesses.

As of Thursday morning, officials have reported four fatalities and dozens of injuries as a result of the tornado. Search and rescue teams are still working to locate any survivors and assess the damage. The NWS has warned that additional tornadoes are possible in the region, and residents are being urged to take precautions and stay informed about the latest weather updates.

Severe Storms Pummel Region

The tornado was part of a larger severe weather system that brought damaging winds, hail, and heavy rain to Texas and surrounding states. Millions of people across the southern Plains were affected by the storms, and nearly 800,000 customers were without power at one point. Several tornadoes were reported across the region, including one that caused significant damage in the town of Granbury, Texas.

The severe weather outbreak is a reminder of the importance of being prepared for extreme weather events. Residents are urged to have a plan in place, including knowing where to go for shelter and how to contact emergency services in case of a tornado warning.
