Cate Blanchett Urges European Parliament to Call for Ceasefire
Blanchett and Ackerman's Statement Not Welcomed at Cannes
Despite Cannes Preemptive Ban on Palestine Protests
Despite the Cannes Film Festival's preemptive ban on Palestine protests during the 11-day event, Cate Blanchett and Agnès Varda's statement calling for a ceasefire did not go unnoticed.
55 artists, including Joaquin Phoenix, Cate Blanchett, Ayo Edebiri, and more, have asked President Biden to order a ceasefire in Gaza. The letter's signatories, which also include such celebrities as Cate Blanchett, were part of a group of Hollywood insiders calling itself Artists4Ceasefire.
Blanchett, a globally recognized actress, urged the European Parliament to call for a ceasefire, shedding light on the ongoing conflict in Palestine.
The internet remains divided over whether or not Cate Blanchett's Cannes red carpet dress was a message for Palestinians. However, her statement, along with Ackerman's, has certainly captured attention.
